The WP range serves any application requiring a 90° direction change, ratio 1:5–1:60, and compact self-locking at ratios above 1:30.

Motor drives the worm shaft

20CrMnTi worm shaft (HRC 58–62, Ra ≤ 0.8 μm) rotates at input speed. Helical threads engage the bronze worm wheel.

Speed reduced, torque multiplied

ZCuSn10Pb1 bronze wheel meshes at 90°. Output torque = Input torque x Ratio x Efficiency.

01 What is a single stage worm gearbox? +
A single stage worm gearbox uses one worm shaft meshing with one bronze worm wheel to reduce input speed in a single step. Gear ratios of 1:5 to 1:60 are achievable in a compact 90° right-angle drive. For ratios above 1:60, a double stage unit is required.
02 What is the difference between P-type and D-type? +
P-type (WPA, WPS, WPX…) use an integral cast iron housing with solid shaft coupling input. D-type (WPDA, WPDS…) use a split housing with IEC hollow bore input flange — the motor shaft slides in directly without a coupling. D-type units carry a slightly higher torque rating (2,856 N·m vs 2,745 N·m at size 250).
03 At what ratio does the WP series self-lock? +
Static self-locking begins at ratios of 1:30 and above, where the worm lead angle falls below the friction angle. The output shaft cannot back-drive the input under static load. For hoist duty subject to shock loads, ISO 4301 recommends an independent brake alongside the inherent worm self-locking.
04 What lubricant does the WP series require? +
All WP units ship pre-filled with ISO VG220 mineral gear oil for ambient −30°C to 40°C. Switch to VG320–VG460 above 40°C. Change oil after the first 100 operating hours, then every 2,500 hours or 12 months. Synthetic oil recommended for 24-hour continuous duty.
05 What is the MOQ and lead time? +
Minimum order quantity is 10 pieces for standard configurations. Sample units in 15–25 days. Production orders typically 30–45 days. OEM options including non-standard ratios, shaft diameters, and keyway configurations are accepted.
06 Are dimensional drawings and CAD files available? +
